You Capture: Red {Homemade playdough}

Red happens to be Will's favorite color so we just had to make some homemade playdough. To get it this red we used an entire container of red food coloring. This is a really fun project that allows a lot of creative play and hours of fun. See below for the recipe!

Homemade playdough:

1 1/2 Cups Water
1/2 Cup Salt

Bring the water and salt to a boil. Remove from heat and add the following:

Food Coloring of choice
1 1/2 Cups flour
2 tbs. Cooking oil
2 tbs. Alum (find it on the spice isle at your grocery store)

Mix the ingredients with a spoon and then set aside to cool a bit. You can put it in the fridge to speed up the cooling. Once it is cooler knead well with your hands. I put down a sheet of kraft paper and then wax paper and let Will knead it. Once it is all mixed the fun really begins. Store it in a ziploc bag and it will stay fresh for a long time. Have Fun!

So fun! I love the last shot.

Where do you find the alum? I would love to do this with my kiddos. This is such a fantastic idea. Especially since we are on snow day #2. :)

How fun! I was wondering about the Alum, too. And we're on snow day number 3, kids are getting bored now! Great idea and great shots!!

What? No red hands? LOL. This is a great idea, & a fun way to get pictures of your kids AND get photos for a photo challenge! =)
